Afghanistan opener Najeebullah Tarakai is in critical condition after being hit by a car on Friday. The cricketer is said to be in coma since the last 22 hours after a passing car hit him while he was crossing the road from a grocery market at Eastern Nangarhar. The shocking development was brought to fore by ex-Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) media manager M.Ibrahim Momand via a tweet. Tarakai is under constant surveillance of the medical staffs. According to the tweet from Momand, he has not moved since the past 22 hours after head injury.

Afghanistan Cricket Board's interim chief executive Nazim Zar Abdulrahimzai told Cricbuzzon Saturday that they are not sure whether Najeeb can make a return as his condition is not stable. "Najeeb met with a road accident yesterday and he is in the ICU at the moment," said Ahmadzai. "His condition is not stable and doctor said he is critically injured and we are not sure what is in store for him,'' he said. Tarakai has represented Afghanistan in only one One-Day International (ODI) and 12 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The opening batsman has scored 258 runs in the shortest format at an average over 21.
