India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been out of action for a while now. During the third Test match between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground in January, he sustained a thumb injury. He returned to India after his diagnosis and since has missed the last Test of the Tour Down Under and England's entire Tour of India. Jadeja was expected to make a comeback in the forthcoming 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) but it looks like there are some doubts on the all-rounder's availability for the cash rich league. Speaking to InsideSport, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan admitted being unaware of the status of Jadeja's availability for the start of the IPL Season 14. “We really don’t know when Jadeja is joining us. He has to get released by the National Cricket Academy (NCA),” Viswanathan said.

The CSK camp is underway at present, with MS Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu and a number of other players looking to get the much-needed practice ahead of the start of the season. A number of CSK members have reached Mumbai's Trident Hotel including coach Stephen Fleming and entered the bio-bubble while a few are present with the Indian cricket team as part of the bilateral series against England.“Stephen and Pujara have reached Mumbai along with some other players. We will begin our camp there on March 27-28,” Viswanathan said.As things stand at the moment, Jadeja is still at the NCA in Bengaluru and is in a race against time to join his CSK teammates to be eligible for the opening match of the season. The southpaw would need to join the bubble latest by April 02 in order to not miss the team's first match against Delhi Capitals on April 10. Earlie, in the day, Delhi Capitals had confirmed that their skipper Shreyas Iyer will miss the entire season due to a shoulder injury. The development comes after he dislocated his shoulder in the first ODI against England while fielding. He will also be unavailable for the remainder of two games.
