Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore decided to field first in the opening encounter against defending champions Mumbai. Maxwell, Jamieson, and Dan Christian are the overseas players for the Simon Katich coached side. Mumbai got only two changes Chris Lynn replaces De Kock. South African, Marco Jensen, also makes his debut for the five-time champions.
However, the big blow for RCB is the absence of Devdutt Paddikal who is battling COVID-19. RCB played the season opener at Chepauk in 2019, and were bowled out for a shocking 70 runs. The pitch this time though is expected to be more sporting. Mumbai, traditionally a pace-heavy outfit, won't have the comforts of the Wankhede to rely on either.
