West Indies opener Chris Gayle has withdrawn his name from the upcoming tour of India and the Big Bash League as he wants to take a break. Gayle recently, opened up on the burden he feels when he does not perform. West Indies called me to play ODIs, but I am not going to play. They (selectors) want me to play with the youngsters but for this year I am going to take a break," ESPN Cricinfo quoted Gayle as saying. Continuing further he said, "I am not going to the Big Bash. I'm not sure what cricket will come up, I don't even know how my name reached the BPL, but I have been drafted in a team and I don't even know how that happened,"

Gayle's decision to withdraw from the India series and T20 league comes in the wake of his poor batting form in the current edition of MSL. The Windies legend could only muster a mere 101 runs from 6 innings. Gayle made it evident that he was hurt by the constant scrutiny not just from the media but also from franchise, owners, team managements, coaches and players. The southpaw  made it clear that he wanted to sort things out and return in 2020 with a clear mind. West Indies are scheduled to play three T20s and 3 ODIs from December 6.
