England were  bowled out for 578 in the first innings after 191 overs. Ashwin got the final wicket of Anderson to end with three wickets in the innings. A massive first innings total set by England. India batting line-up will now have a lot to do and a lot will rest upon the shoulders of the top-order batsmen. The pitch has started to turn a lot more and England pacers led by experienced James Anderson will try to get the most with the new ball.

Root, playing his 100th Test on Friday, hit an unbeaten 128 runs off 197 balls. It was also Root's third consecutive hundred in the longest format of the game. The England skipper had hit 228 and 186 runs against Sri Lanka in January.
