Former leg spinner Mushtaq Ahmed has been named as the new spin bowling consultant by the Pakistan Cricket board for a term of one-year. Mushtaq's will be closely working with Yasir Shah at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore to get him ready for the second test against Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, it is understood that Yasir Shah has been released by PCB from the squad in Rawalpindi and has been asked to report to the Mushtaq in Lahore. 

The Pakistan Cricket Board revealed that Mushtaq was appointed last week and will work 120 days in a year at NCA with U-16 and other domestic bowlers including the national team. In 2008 ECB appointed Mushtaq as their spin bowling coach. In 2016 he was part of the West Indies coaching setup as assistant coach and spin bowling consultant for Bangladesh tour. A prominent figure in Pakistan cricket Mushtaq played 52  Tests and 144 ODIs for Pakistan sclaping 185 and 161 wickets. He was the leading wicket-taker for Sussex in the County Championships for five succesive seasons.
