Australian cricket legend Ricky Ponting had his house burgled on Friday night as a few thieves broke into his house. The thieves have reportedly stolen the former cricketer's car which was parked in the driveway of his house. When the thieves broke on, Ponting, his wife and three children were at the bayside in Melbourne. The police immediately got into action and began searching for the burglars. Not long after the hunt was carried out, the car was recovered by the police from the Camberwell area in Melbourne. As per a report in 7News, two men were spotted trying to get away from the police. The men managed to escape but the car has been recovered by the police officials.
The Special Operations Group and the Airwing were deployed to track the car and reached their target on Saturday. Ricky Ponting is now expected to resume his coaching duties for the Delhi Capitals franchise in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2021 (IPL 2021) season. The IPL auction is set to be held on 18th February in Chennai. The Delhi Capitals franchise retained as many as 19 cricketers from their previous edition’s squad for IPL 2021 season. Captain Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma, R Ashwin are among those who will be reprising their roles this year. Overseas recruits like Marcus Stoinis, Kagiso Rabada and Chris Woakes among others were also retained by the franchise. Last year, Ponting led the franchise to their first-ever final where they eventually lost to defending champions Mumbai.
