Former India batsman Sanjay Bangar has refused the coaching offer by Bangladesh citing professional commitments. Bangar, was offered the role of Bangladesh's batting consultant ahead of the two-Test series against Australia in June. "They offered me the position eight weeks ago. But in the interim, I finalised finalised my contract with Star which gave me the opportunity to balance out my personal and professional commitments. However, I look forward to working with BCB in the future," Bangar was quoted as saying by PTI.

Bangar who was earlier the batting coach of the Men in Blue was axed from his position following India's exit from the 2019 World Cup.  The 47-year-old was the only one whose contract wasn't renewed while head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar all had their roles extended. Bangar has since been involved in commentary since then. Neil Mckenzie who is the current batting consultant of Bangladesh men's team refused to extend his contract in the red-ball format.
