Steve Smith became the fastest man to score 7,000 test runs in the longest format of the game. Steve achieved the feat on day two of the ongoing pink-ball Test at the Adelaide Oval against Pakistan. The 30-year old reached the landmark after he took a single off Muhammad Musa. He also moved past Donald Bradman in the run-scoring list for Australia, Bradman scored 6,996 runs in the longest format of the game. 

Smith reached 7k in just his 126th innings and with this feat he surpassed England's Wally Hammond record who had scored these runs in 131 innings. The English legend held the record for 73 years. India batsman Virender Sehwag  Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar reached the milestone in their 134th, 136th, and 140th innings. Cricket Australia congratulated Steve on achieving  this unique feat.
