A controlled bowling performance by three time champions Chennai Super Kings forced Royal Challengers Bangalore to settle for a medicore score of 145 at the end of 20 overs. They scored just 20 runs in the last five overs with Deepak Chahar and Sam Curram combining to share five wickets. Kohli smashed his 200th six in the IPL as he and AB de Villiers added 82 runs for RCB’s third wicket. This was after Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch fell to Mitchell Santner and Sam Curran.

RCB opted to bat first against CSK and made one change by bringing Moeen Ali ahead in place of Isuru Udana. CSK have made 2 changes with the inclusions of Santner and fast bowler Monu Singh. With 14 points, Virat Kohli-led RCB are one point away from becoming the first team to enter the playoffs. The last time RCB and CSK played each other, it was Kohli’s unit which emerged victorious by 37 runs. RCB are coming off consecutive wins, while CSK have had to endure defeats in their previous two games.
