High Court grants Rhea Chakraborty bail in Sushant Singh Rajput death case

Rhea Chakraborty has been granted bail by the Bombay High Court, Justice Sarang V Kotwal pronounced the order today. However, the bail pleas of her her brother Showik was denied. The bench has also allowed the bail applications of Sushant Singh Rajput's domestic helps Samuel Miranda and Dipesh Sawant.Rhea (28) was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), on September 8. Rhea’s brother Showik (24) who was arrested on September 4 by the NCB. The brother sister duo have been accused of sourcing and purchasing durgs for Sushant Singh Rajput – and had been described as “active members of drugs syndicate”. In the past, their bail applications have been rejected by the Magistrate’s Court and Special NDPS Court following which they had moved the Bombay High Court.

Rhea Chakraborty is permitted to furnish cash bail of Rs 1 lakh within a month and within that time furnish sureties. NCB sought a stay of a week, however HC says it has imposed stringent conditions and stated 'not inclined to give stay'. Rhea has to appear before a nearest police station regularly.The NCB was brought in to investigate the drug angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput case and the larger Bollywood-drug cartel nexus after incriminating WhatsApp chats surfaced during the investigations by the Enforcement Directorate and Central Bureau of Investigation.  Rhea Chakraborty has been in jail for nearly a month now. Several Bollywood celebrities have been calling out for her release. Swara Bhasker, filmmaker Anubhav Sinha and Kanika Dhillon recently expressed that Rhea should be released.
