"I tried committing suicide 4 times": Sushant's co-star Amit Sadh opens up on his battle with mental health

Amit Sadh who marked his Bollywood debut alongside, late actor Sushant Singh Rajput in Kai Po Che has opened up about a time when he felt depressed constantly. The actor shared that he had attempted suicide four times at the mere age of 16-18. Talking about that phase of his life, Amit told MensXP, that he himself struggled as a teenager. Speaking to the portal, Sadhi said, "Between the age of 16 and 18, I tried committing suicide four times. I didn’t have suicidal thoughts. I just went to commit suicide, there was no planning. I just woke up one day and tried and tried again and again and again. Then by God’s grace, the fourth time, the last time I did, I knew that this is not the way and this is not the end. And things changed. My mindset changed. And since then, it has evolved and the philosophy of ‘never giving up’ came in me."  

However, it has been a long battle since then and the actor revealed that he took one day by a time. "I didn’t overcome it all in one day - took me 20 years! I just found one thing for sure - this is not the end. Life is a gift. So, the day I understood this, I started living it. I feel blessed and fortunate that I’m on the other side of the white light. Now I have a lot of compassion, love and empathy for people who become weak." Speaking about SSR's desmise, Amit Sadh earlier said, "I think the industry has changed post coronavirus and is also affected by his death. I hope we are affected by it, because if we are not affected with it we are not human beings and if we aren't humans then we shouldn't be telling stories about humans. "On the film front, Amit Sadh was seen playing a key role in Vidya Balan and Sanya Malhotra-starrer Shakuntala Devi. The film released on Amazon Prime Video on July 31. He also played a lead role in ZEE5 film Yaara.Amit Sadh was also seen in Breathe: Into The Shadows. The web-series premiered on Amazon Prime Video and starred Abhishek Bachchan as the protagonist. Sadh, who was also a part of Breathe Season 1, reprised his role of police officer Kabir Sawant.
