Malayalam actor Sharan, who was known for his performance in Mohanlal's 1988 release Chithram, breathed his last today. He was 49. Reportedly, Sharan had a high fever for the past few days and was rushed to the hospital today morning. His health deteriorated at the hospital where he died. The cause of Sharan's death is unknown. Actress Ranjini, Chithram's female lead actress, penned a note as she offered condolences to Sharan and his family. She wrote, "Can’t believe that you are no more my little brother, Saran Swarachithra who can forget your innocent performance in Chithram? Rest dear (sic)."

South Indian film industry has lost a lot of talented gems in the last one month. Kollywood director and cinematographer KV Anand, Kannada film producer Ramu, director Thamira and Sr. actor Chelladuria passed away in the week gone by. Mohanlal paid tribute to his ‘Chithram’ co-star Sharan. Sharan shot to fame after appearing in the 1988 film ‘Chithram’, which had Mohanlal in the lead role. The late actor was a child artist then and played Vishnu’s (Mohanlal) friend in the film. Sharan also had a few key scenes with Mohanlal in the film. He has also appeared in a few other Malayalam films. Sharan has also worked as a dubbing artist for movies.
