Miss India finalist, Aishwaya Sheoran who cracked UPSC exam files complaint over fake social media accounts

Former Miss India finalist Aishwarya Sheoran, who recently shot to fame after she secured rank 93 in the 2019 Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam, has filed a complaint with the Colaba police station here stating that there are over 20 fake Instagram accounts in her name. Based on her complaint, the police have registered a case under the Information Technology Act against an unidentified person and started the investigation.

Sheoran told the police that she does not have any account on Instagram and someone created accounts in her name and was posting her photos and videos without seeking permission. The complaint was registered on August 6 but police has not made any arrests so far.  Sheoran, in her complaint to the police, said that on August 5 while she was speaking to a newspaper for an interview, the journalist asked her which one is her official account on the popular app as there are too many of them in her name. She told the journalist that she has no account on Instagram. 

Later, she asked her brother to check if there are such accounts in her name. They were shocked to discover 20 fake accounts in her name. Many accounts claimed to be her official account. One of the Instagram accounts has over 27,000 followers. Aishwarya who was one of the top finalist, of Miss India 2016, started her journey with Delhi Times Fresh Face and was one of the finalist of  Campus Princess Delhi 2016. Sheoran’s father is a colonel in the Army, she was born in Rajasthan and completed her higher education in Delhi. Now she lives with her family in Mumbai.
