NDPS court grants Rhea Chakraborty permission to travel abroad under strict conditions

Rhea Chakraborty is set to travel to Abu Dhabi from June 2 to 5 to attend the 22nd edition of IIFA after a special court under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act granted special permission to the actor. The court directed the investigating officer in her case to hand over her passport to her.The court has directed Chakraborty to furnish an additional cash surety of Rs 1 lakh. It also specified that her bail might be cancelled if she does not follow any of the conditions applied to her trip.

Rhea Chakraborty has to report to the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi every day with the details of her stay and submit an attendance sheet before the special court on June 6.She has also been asked to furnish her travel itinerary, place of stay and accompanying documents pertaining to her visit with the court and the investigating officer. She will have to surrender her passport to the investigating officer on her return.Rhea Chakraborty had filed a plea to the court stating that she was invited by the director and co-founder of IIFA to give away an award on June 3 and to host an interaction during the main ceremony on June 4. Her plea requested permission to travel to Abu Dhabi from June 2 to 8. However, the court granted her permission only till June 5 as the next date of hearing in her case is on June 7.Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in September 2020 after Whatsapp chats with drug peddlers were recovered from her phone. The case was registered against her after the death of Sushant Rajput on June 14, 2020.
