Producers Guild of India to set up a relief fund for daily wage workers amid coronavirus shutdown

The Producers Guild of India has announced a relief fund for all the daily wage workers whose lives will get affected because of this complete shutdown of the production process for the next two weeks. The announcement has been made on behalf of Siddharth Roy Kapur who is the President of the Producers Guild of India. The decision comes after many from the film industry, including filmmakers Sudhir Mishra, Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, had raised concerns over the impact of shutdown on the daily wage workers.

For those not in the know government authorities have passed an order to suspend all the shoots, releases and promotions of films, TV shows and other web series from 19th March to 31st March. The shut down is part of the precautionary measure to curb the spread of coronavirus.A number of countries have already called for a shut down and in Maharashtra malls, theatres , swimming pools, gymnasiums, schools, and colleges have been closed already.
