Rhea Chakraborty under ED scanner after she makes expensive real estate buys in Mumbai

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned actor Rhea Chakraborty for questioning on August 7 in connection with a money laundering case stemming from a complaint filed by Sushant Singh Rajput's father. Last week, the central agency had registered a case under the Personal Money Laundering Act (PMLA) for what it called "suspicious transactions." Times Now reports that the ED is also looking at two high-end property purchases that Chakraborty , who was in a relationship with Rajput, had made in the recent past.

Yesterday, the apex court directed the states of Maharashtra and Bihar, and Rajput's father, K K Singh, to file replies on Chakraborty's plea. In her plea, she had sought the transfer of an FIR lodged in Patna by Rajput's father who had accused her of abetting his suicide. Last week, an FIR was filed by the Patna Police against Chakraborty following a complaint lodged by Rajput's father, under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including abetment of suicide. He had also complained that Rs 15 crores was withdrawn from Sushant's account by Rhea in a short span of time. A team of Bihar Police, led by Patna SP Vinay Tiwari, is in Mumbai to probe the case. Sushant Singh Rajput passed away on June 14, 2020 by suicide. He was 34.
