"She beat me": Abhinav Kohli accuses wife Shweta Tiwari of domestic violence

Actor Shweta Tiwari's estranged husband, Abhinav Kohli, has reacted to an interview in which she spoke about being a domestic violence survivor. Abhinav admitted to having slapped her on one occasion, and said that she has also been physically abusive towards him. Abhinav Kohli told SpotboyE, "I have never beaten Shweta apart from that slap which Palak herself has mentioned in that open letter. And I had already apologised for that slap to both of them. This whole thing is just a confusion created by Shweta just to prove that I subjected her to domestic violence which is not true. I have never been a woman beater. On the contrary to her claims, Shweta has hit me with a stick."

Elaborating further on the accusation, Abhinav said, "In 2017, when we had a fight and she separated me from my child for three months, I tried to meet my child. I have also shared a photo on my Instagram where you can see black marks below my eyes. Shweta also has CCTV footage of that incident as she had written a letter to the society asking for it as an evidence for that fight. In her latest interview Shweta says I also get provoked but I have not hit anybody. But she has hit me and when she did that to me nobody came to know as I didn't go to the media and said anything or ran away from my child which she has been doing. From 2017, I have been suffering because of all this but I never spoke about it. You (Shweta) hit me, used your daughter to put a wrong allegation on me who was brought up by this very man, created a wrong image in front of the world."

In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Shweta Tiwari said that Abhinav had threatened to ruin her reputation. She said, "In the lobby of my residential building, he (Abhinav) told me, ‘Ek aurat ki image kharab karne me kya lagta hai, just one post. Just one post, and you will be ruined'. After 5 to 6 days, he started posting, to spoil my reputation. "Shweta Tiwari also said that her daughter Palak has seen her getting beaten up at the hands of her ex-husbands. "Palak does not show me that she is sad. She saw me getting beaten up. She saw women coming home. She was 6 years old when I decided to break off my [first] marriage. She has seen the police coming to my home. She has seen me going to the police station. My four-year-old son also knows about police and judges. It is not safe, but it is not only because of me. For a child to be knowing all this at this age is not healthy, but I am unable to do anything about it because I have no way out,” the actress said.  Shweta Tiwari married Raja Chaudhary in 1998. They welcomed their first child Palak in 2000. After 9 years of marriage, Shweta filed for divorce in 2007. The actress complained that she suffered domestic abuse in her marriage with Raja Chaudhary. Shweta Tiwari later married her co-star Abhinav Kohli in 2013 after dating for a few years. The couple welcomed their first child, Reyansh, in 2016. In 2017, Shweta filed a complaint of domestic violence against Abhinav Kohli following which he was taken into police custody. The duo separated in 2019.
