Shekar Kapur and Manoj Bajpayee recall their interaction with Sushant Singh Rajput

The showbiz industry received a huge setback after the untimely demise of Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14th. The 34-year old actor had apparently committed suicide at his residence in Mumbai, as per police reports. A number of Sushant’s former co-stars mourned his death. Manoj Bajpayee, who has worked with the Sushant in Sonchiriya, in an Instagram live with Shekhar Kapur, recalled the first day of his shoot with the actor. He said that his mind is not leaving the image of him on the first day, coming to Manoj and suddenly touching his feet. All the perceptions that people were floating about him, that one gesture of his just questioned everything. Not that he touched his feet it just says so many things about his background, where he came from.

The Satya star further said that he is finding it so difficult to come to terms with the fact that those images are going to be of the past. Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, who had signed Sushant Singh Rajput for his ambitious directorial venture Paani also mourned his death. Shekhar remembered Sushant in a heartfelt tweet and called him ‘an old wise soul in a restless young body. Shekhar and Sushant were supposed to collaborate on the ambitious film, Paani, which got shelved in 2015 after Yash Raj Films backed out as the producers. Shekar also revealed that his smile had a childish gaze and he never met someone so humble.

Speaking about nepotism, the Bandit Queen director said, Whoever is supporting nepotism, is restricting their own journey, their creativity, and Sushant was self-made. The Masoom director in his tribute tweet mentioned that the actor was in ‘pain’ and would ‘weep on (his) shoulder’ because of being let down by certain people. I knew the pain you were going through. I knew the story of the people that let you down so bad that you would weep on my shoulder. I wish Iwas around the last 6 months. I wish you had reached out to me. What happened to you was their Karma. Not yours. #SushantSinghRajput,” he wrote on Twitter.
