Supreme Court tells CBI to take over Sushant Singh Rajput case from Mumbai Police

The Supreme Court has now announced that the Central Bureau of Investigation will take over the probe of Sushant Singh Rajput. According to Times Now Supreme Court has also pronounced that pronounced the verdict on Rhea Chakraborty's plea, the case will be transferred to Mumbai. While the Mumbai police was investigating the matter, Sushant’s father filed an FIR in Patna, leveling several allegations against Rhea Chakraborty and her family. Rhea had then moved the SC, seeking to transfer the FIR lodged by Sushant’s father in Patna to Mumbai and the Supreme Court has announced its verdict on the petition today.

Following the FIR in Patna, the Bihar government had requested the Centre for a CBI probe into Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise. Maharashtra government had reportedly opposed the decision to involve CBI in the matter, citing that the FIR should be transferred to Mumbai police as the incident happened in their jurisdiction. On the other hand, Rhea in her written submissions had told the Supreme Court that the Patna FIR could at best be regarded as a zero FIR and should be transferred to Mumbai police and insisted that Rajput's father has made baseless allegations against her. "A plain reading of the subject FIR is clearly indicative of the fact that no such consequence of such alleged act has ensued within the State of Bihar.
