"Terrified as to what tomorrow might bring, only way to get over this is death : Rhea's mother on her children's arrest

It was after almost a month of judicial custody, Rhea Chakraborty was granted bail by the Bombay High Court. Rhea and her brother Showik were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the drugs link connected to Sushant Singh Rajput death case. While Rhea was granted bail, her brother Showik’s bail was denied. Now, Rhea’s mother was overcome with emotion when she found out Rhea was granted bail. She questioned how Rhea would heal from this, but said that she is a fighter. While speaking to the Times Of India, Rhea’s mother Sandhya Chakraborty said, “Rhea’s father was on the verge of collapse yesterday” after Rhea and Showik’s custody had been extended by two weeks. She then questioned, “What she has gone through… how will she heal from this? But she is a fighter and she must be strong.” Reacting to the ‘slander’ against Rhea, her mom said that she would have to put Rhea on therapy to help her get over trauma and reclaim her life.

While she said that it is a relief that Rhea is out of prison, she said that it is still not over as her son is still in custody. “It’s crazy it’s still not over. My son is still behind bars and I’m paranoid about what tomorrow will bring,” she said. Sandhya Chakraborty admitted to having suicidal thoughts herself and said she couldn’t sleep while her children were suffering in jail. “My family’s not just been pushed to a corner, it’s been destroyed. At one point I thought the only way to end it was by ending my life,” she said. She also said that after Rhea came home, she looked at her parents and asked why they look sad, and that they have to be strong and fight this. “But who are we fighting? Someone had to be arrested to satisfy the public, and Rhea paid the price,” said Sandhya Chakraborty. Responding to recent reports of their neighbour claiming that Sushant had dropped Rhea off at her home on June 13, a day before he died, Sandhya said that the claims can easily be disproven if the authorities investigate Sushant’s location via cell towers. She said that the family has installed CCTV cameras for protection, as they panic ‘every time the doorbell rings’.

Rhea has been accused by Sushant’s father of abetting the actor’s suicide and misappropriating his funds. She was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in September, after the central agency found evidence tying her to the purchase of banned drugs. An alumnus of Armed Forces Medical College in Pune, Rhea’s father Indrajit Chakraborty, 55, was a surgeon for the armed forces for 24 years before he joined a hospital in Mumbai as administrative head. His wife, Sandhya, also 55, is a former schoolteacher. Indrajit is originally a Bengali from Kolkata while Sandhya is a Maharashtrian. The family has been living in Mumbai for close to 12 years.  Earlier, Rhea Chakraborty’s neighbor claims that the late actor was kept in Rhea’s apartment for three months after the couple's Europe trip. According to Times Now, Rhea’s neighbor alleges that the actress’s family used to do black magic with dolls. “Ask her mother, she will tell you how to do black magic. One hundred percent Sushant was murdered,” she told the reporters. Rajput (34) was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14 under mysterious circumstances. In the FIR filed by K.K Singh, with the Bihar Police, the late actor's family has accused Rhea's father, mother, and brother of financially and mentally exploiting Sushant Singh Rajput.
