As superstar Rajinikanth turned 69 on Thursday, scores of actors from southern cinema took to their social media to wish the Thalaiva on his birthday.

As superstar Rajinikanth turned 69 on Thursday, scores of actors from southern cinema took to their social media to wish the Thalaiva on his birthday.

Kamal Hassan who is known to enjoy a great bond with his fellow actor took to Twitter to wish Rajinikanth success and good health for years to come.

"My dear friend @rajinikanth I wish a healthy, victorious and long life for you on this auspicious ocassion of your birthday," read his tweet.

Tamil actor Dhanush also took to Twitter to wish the senior actor and his father-in-law, "Happy birthday #thalaiva."

Superstar's birthday is celebrated across India with great fervour owing which many other actors wished Rajinikanth through their Twitter handles.

Telugu actor Mahesh Babu tweeted his birthday wish and said, "Happy Birthday to our Thalaiva @rajinikanth sir. Wishing you a phenomenal year with great health and joy. Much love and respect."

Other actors that wished the senior actor on his birthday were Kajal Aggarwal, Neena Gupta and Urvashi Rautela.

The southern actor was recently conferred with the 'Icon of Golden Jubilee Award' for his outstanding contribution in Indian cinema at 50th International Film Festival of India on November 20.

The veteran actor received the prestigious award from the Union Minister Prakash Javadekar in presence of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Amitabh Bachchan among others.
