Periods pain is different for every woman. If you want to avoid popping medicine, then you should consume these food items that will provide you relief from period pain. 

Basil leaves: If there is a lot of pain, then while making tea, add some leaves of basil. Drinking this tea will relieve pain. Not only this, it is also helpful in making the body strong from inside.

Ginger: Eating ginger is very beneficial for period pain. If you wish, you can boil small pieces of it in water and drink it. This will give relief from pain.

Parsley: Women often have gas problems during periods. Due to this, they also have abdominal pain. To avoid this, intake of parsley will also help.

Papaya: Papaya helps to keep away digestive disorders like bloating, upset stomach and constipation. Taking it during periods relieves pain. But you should not consume in excess quantity.

Apart from all this you should eat green leafy vegetables, chocolate, bananas, salmon fish, yogurt, whole grains, watermelon, nuts and seeds. These things work to eliminate period cramps, pain, discomfort.

Also you should avoid alcohol consumption during periods. This can cause your periods to become irregular and increase estrogen levels in the body, which can worsen the symptoms of periods. Instead you should drink lassi or coconut water. These are helpful in keeping you hydrated.
