Bengaluru, June 30 Karnataka Medical Education minister K Sudhakar resumed duty on Tuesday after eight days of home quarantine when a few of his family members had tested Covid positive.

"For the last eight days I have been under home quarantine as a few of my family members tested positive for Covid. My test report has come negative on Monday, I will return to my regular duties from Tuesday," said Sudhakar.

The 45-year-old minister's sample was tested at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases on Monday, which turned out to be negative.

He also shared a June 22 test result of 16 more persons who worked at his home or were connected with it, comprising 15 men and a woman, all of whom tested negative.

Sudhakar's 82-year-old father had tested positive for the virus on June 22. The following day he confirmed that his wife and daughter had also contracted the disease.

"With your good wishes my family members are recovering," Sudhakar said.

During home quarantine, he discharged his duties online and interacted with officials through video-conferencing.

Sitting at home, he also presided over the 22nd annual convocation of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences by video-conferencing, in the capacity of pro-chancellor of the university and conferred degrees on students.
