Dubai Rains: Indian Embassy in UAE Issues Travel Advisory For Passengers, Urges Rescheduling Of Non-Essential Travel

The Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi has advised Indian travelers passing through the airport to postpone non-essential trips until flight operations stabilize. This recommendation comes in response to heavy rainfall in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), resulting in flood-like conditions. The Indian consulate in Dubai has activated emergency helpline numbers to assist affected passengers. The guidance aims to ensure the safety and well-being of Indian nationals amidst the challenging weather conditions in the UAE.

In today's advisory, the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi stated, "Due to disruptions caused by unprecedented weather conditions in the UAE earlier this week, Dubai International Airport has temporarily restricted the number of inbound flights." The embassy further noted that while UAE authorities are working tirelessly to normalize operations, airport authorities have advised passengers to travel to the airport "only after" receiving final confirmation from their respective airlines regarding the departure date and time of flights. Dubai International Airport announced a temporary limitation on inbound flights on April 19 due to unprecedented weather conditions.

Emirates, Dubai's flagship airline, announced today the suspension of check-in services for all customers with onward connections through the city, three days after a record storm swept the UAE. Emirates stated that the suspension of flights with onward connections would be in effect until 23:59 GMT on April 19, while customers traveling to Dubai as their final destination may check-in and travel as usual.

The Consulate General of India in Dubai underscored their continuous communication with UAE authorities and airlines to facilitate connections for stranded Indian passengers and their families. They also mentioned that relief measures, in collaboration with Indian community organizations, have been implemented. In a post shared on social media on April 18, the Consulate General of India in Dubai stated, "We are in touch with UAE authorities and airlines to facilitate stranded passengers. Regular updates from airlines are being provided to travelers, and relief measures have been extended in collaboration with Indian community organizations."
