India, China working upon to resolve standoff in Ladakh region

China has made slight retreat at Galwan Valley, one of the flashpoint leading to standoff with India, in Ladakh region on Wednesday, sources said. In a bid to resolve the issue, China's People's Liberation Army moved back two kilometres and Indian Army has moved back by one kilometre. However, at another flashpoint Pangong Tso (lake), troops from both sides are stationed and are camping over there. This would be the main focus of the meeting on June 6 between top military officers of India and China. The general officer commanding of Leh-based 14 Corps, Lt. Gen. Harinder Singh, is set to represent India at the talks.

Pangong Tso lake, which has been the biggest flashpoint between the two troops, is likely to be the main focus of the meeting. The PLA troops have been camping at Finger 4 area of the lake that has been under India's control. The tensions between the two sides have been on for almost a month now in Galwan Nala area over construction activities. China has been raising objections to the Indian infrastructure projects in the Eastern Ladakh region and has built up troops in disputed locations to pressurise India to stop any kind of work there.
