India and the Dominican Republic on Monday signed visa waiver agreement that would permit diplomatic passport holders of the two nations to travel and stay in each other's country without holding a visa for 90 days.

India and the Dominican Republic on Monday signed visa waiver agreement that would permit diplomatic passport holders of the two nations to travel and stay in each other's country without holding a visa for 90 days.

The agreement was signed following a meeting between Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan and External Relations Minister of Dominican Republic Miguel Vargas in New Delhi. The two leaders discussed measures to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields, including trade and renewable energy.

"The bilateral visa waiver agreement was also signed which allows Diplomatic/official passport holders of India and DR a visa-free travel and stay up to 90 days in each other's territory," Muraleedharan wrote on Twitter.

The minister further informed that India would orgse specialised training courses for the officials and diplomats of the Caribbean country under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme.

"Discussed measures to strengthen our bilateral relations in all areas including trade and renewable energy. Happy to announce specialised training courses for the officials and Diplomats of DR under ITEC," Muraleedharan wrote.

ITEC is a bilateral assistance programme run by the Indian government that offers unique training courses to the citizens of various countries across the world.
