Diwali 2020: Check out the recipe for 'Shankarpali'

On the auspicious occasion of Diwali 2020 learn how to make 'Shankarpali or Shakkarpara' at home. Shankarpali, shakkarpara, khurma, laktho, lakdi mithai, or just simply mithai is an Indian sweet snack. Shankarpali is popular in Western India, especially in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Diwali 2020 is one of the most anticipated times of the year and preparations for it have begun with the start of the month itself. While some are cleaning their homes, others are wondering what snacks to make at home. Each Diwali festival, people make traditional snacks which is often called the Diwali faral. 

Check out the recipe for 'Shankarpali or Shakkarpara' below: 
Ingredients:

. 4 cup all purpose flour (500 gms)
. 1 cup sugar (200 gms)
. 3/4 cup classified butter (100 gms)
. 1 cup milk
. 1/4 tsp salt

Tip: For cup measurement always use same cup to measure all ingredients.

Method:

. Transfer milk in a pan,add suagr and allow to heat it , stir it continuously till sugar melted properly.

. When sugar dissolved in milk,switch off flame.

. Add classified butter and mix it properly.

. Allow to cool the mixture at room temperature.

. Take all purpose flour in a big plate or bowl add salt and mix well.

. Step by step add milk sugar and classified butter mixture and knead a hard dough.

. Allow to rest it for 10 minutes.

. After 10 minutes,take some portion of dough and flatten it.

. Roll it for little thick chapati.

. Cut it in small square or dimond shapes.

. Separate all pieces.

. Heat oil in a pan.

. Transfer few pieces in it.

. Deep fry shankarpadi or shakkarpara on medium flame.

. For even color keep turning it while frying.

. When becomes light brown and crispy, allow to drain water and transfer it on kitchen paper.

. Deep fry all in same way.

. Shankarpadhi or shankarpali or shakkarpara is ready.

. Allow to cool at room temperature then store in dry airtight container.
