Diwali 2020: Check out the recipe for 'Chakali'

Chakali is a must in almost every ones list when Diwali is round the corner. On the auspicious occasion of Diwali 2020 learn how to make 'Chakali' at home. Diwali 2020 is one of the most anticipated times of the year and preparations for it have begun with the start of the month itself. While some are cleaning their homes, others are wondering what snacks to make at home. Each Diwali festival, people make traditional snacks which is often called the Diwali faral. 

Check out the recipe for 'Chakali' below: 
Ingredients:
• 2 cups Wheat flour
• 1/2 cup Rice flour
• 1 tbsp Red chili powder
• 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
• 1 tbsp White sesame seeds
• 1 tbsp Coriander powder
• 1/4 Ajwain / Carom seeds
• Salt to taste
• Water
• Oil for frying

Method:
• In pot take wheat flour. 
• Add rice flour and mix well. 
• Take cooker and add water at the bottom. Transfer the flour into cooker and cover it with a dish. 
• You can also transfer the pot into steamer. 
• Cover the pot with clean cloth so that the water in the steamer won’t enter into the flour. 
• Close the lid and steam on medium heat for about 20 minutes. 
• Take the pot out and loosen the stiff flour. 
• Transfer the flour into a strainer and sieve it. 
• So that any lumps of flour formed will be broken. 
• Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, white sesame seeds, coriander powder, awjain and salt. 
• Mix well and add a little water at a time and knead thick dough. 
• Take the dough and fill the chakali mould. 
• Take wax paper and roll chakali on it. 
• After rolling out chakali, seal both the ends really good so that it won’t open up while frying. 
• Heat up oil in a pan. The oil should not be too hot. 
• Drop chakali into oil fry for about 5-6 minutes on low to medium heat. 
• After frying for about 3-4 minutes from one side flip the chakli over. 
• After another 3-4 minutes, when chakali settles at the bottom, take it out of oil. 
• Drain excess oil and transfer it into a dish.  
• Chakali is already. 
• You can make 20-22 chakalis from 2 cups wheat flour.
