In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival will be celebrated in a simple manner adhering to national directives for coronavirus management, including compulsory use of face masks, social distancing norms and personal hygiene measures across the country.

Ganesh Chaturthi, a 10-day Hindu festival, celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, the god of auspicious beginnings. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ganesha is the younger son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

The festival is believed to remove all obstacles from human life and bring peace and prosperity.

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations are incomplete without Lord Ganpati’s favourite sweetmeat, the modak. Modaks are a special treat to the elephant-headed God and his devotees.
