Ajit Pawar: Maha govt to stop disconnecting farmers' power connection for unpaid power bills

The session of the Maharashtra Assembly began on March 1. The first day saw a clash between the ruling party and the opposition.Opposition groups called for a boycott of the assembly on the second day of the convention.

BJP MLAs protested at the State Assembly against Maharashtra Government, over the issue of power connections of farmers being disconnected due to pending bills. Praveen Darekar had informed before the convention that the party will take an aggressive stance on the issue of power outage. After this, Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis raised various questions in the House regarding the electricity bill and the decision to cut off electricity.

Consumers in the state received inflated electricity bills. The state authorities are forcibly recovering bills from citizens. Majority of the farmers are suffering because of this. If power connection of farmers is being cut off, they will face isued while performing their agricultural works. Therefore, a discussion should be held on this issue immediately and the disconnection of electricity should be stopped, demanded Devendra Fadnavis.

After demand of Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar informed the Maharashtra Assembly that the state government has decided to stop disconnecting farmers' power connection for unpaid power bills. He also told the House that a Government Resolution has been issued in this regard.
