Kangana Ranaut's tweets comparing Mumbai city to Pakistan occupied Kashmir has angered many politicians, actors and citizens. Her tweet angered Mumbaikars and they came together on Twitter to slam Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut after she compared the city with Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

After the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, actress Kangana Ranaut said she feared Mumbai Police more than the "movie mafia".

Kangana said that Sanjay Raut had threatened her not to come back to Mumbai, "Sanjay Raut Shiv Sena leader has given me an open threat and asked me not to come back to Mumbai, after Aazadi graffitis in Mumbai streets and now open threats, why Mumbai is feeling like Pakistan occupied Kashmir?"

BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis's wife Amruta Fadnavis has come out in support of the actress and tweeted without taking her name,"We may not agree with what someone has to say, but we must defend the right to express in democracy!Freedom of speech, freedom of belief, freedom of movement, freedom of press-cannot be suppressed! We can have counter arguments but beating posters of critics with chappals is a new low."

Fadnavis was talking about a viral video where Shiv Sena workers were seen protesting over Kangana Ranaut's remarks and beating her effigy and posters with shoes and slippers and shouting "Kangana Ranaut haye haye" and "Kangana Ranaut hosh mein aao".
