Doctors write letter to Devendra Fadnavis after attack from patient with knife

After an incident of attack on doctors in Maharashtra's Yavatmal, a group of doctors wrote letter to deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis demanding legal action against the offenders. The letter stated that residents of SVNGMC Yavatmal will stop all emergency and non-emergency services as a protest.

A patient allegedly attacked a resident doctor with a knife at Shri Vasantrao Naik Government Hospital in Yavatmal district on Thursday. Another doctor suffered an injury when he came to the rescue of his colleague. One of the doctors is injured severely and is undergoing surgery. The victims have been identified as Dr JB Stan Paul and Dr Abhishek Jha. They are both first year residents in general surgery. The victims were inspecting patients in the ward as usual when a patient attacked them. 

The resident doctors association has declared a strike after the attack on the resident doctors. According to a statement by the association, During the evening rounds on January 5 at around 7:30 pm in GMC Yavatmal, a patient out of nowhere assaulted and stabbed a first year resident of general surgery with a knife on the neck and injured him badly.
