Farmers across the country have taken to the streets to protest against all the three agricultural laws introduced by the central government. Farmers in Punjab and Haryana have been protesting on the Delhi border for the past several days demanding repeal of the law. Thousands of farmers from Maharashtra have also gathered at Mumbai's Azad Maidan yesterday in support of the farmers' agitation on the Delhi border. After the rally, the farmers and leaders shall take out a procession to Raj Bhavan and submit a memorandum to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari with their list of demands pertaining to farmers and workers, said All India Kisan Sabha President Dr. Ashok Dhawale.

Speaking in this regard, Vishwas Nangre Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police, Mumbai, said that as per the order of the Hon'ble Court, a morcha cannot be allowed in South Mumbai. In this regard, we have met the delegations and leaders associated with the front and are trying to convince them. However, the farmers insist on going to Raj Bhavan. "As soon as they try to reach the Raj Bhavan, we will try to stop them and take their delegation to the Raj Bhavan," said Vishwas Nangre Patil.

The Mumbai Police have made elaborate security arrangements at the Azad Maidan with police personnel assisted by 9 platoons of the SRPF, drones and other agencies deployed. Over 800 police personnel and officers have been deployed in South Mumbai on the backdrop of farmers' agitation. Apart from this, the agitating farmers should be careful considering the situation in Corona. The rules regarding coronavirus should be followed. Also observe social distancing by using face mask. In this regard, we are also repeatedly giving instructions to the agitating farmers, said Nangre Patil.
