Former Maharashtra MP Nilesh Rane leaves BJP, and quits active politics

Former MP Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg constituency and BJP leader Nilesh Rane announced his retirement from active politics on Tuesday. Taking it to his official account on social media platform X, Rane posted that he is permanently stepping aside from active politics as he is 'no longer interested in politics,' for no other reason.

Further in his post, Rane clearly stated that he is not interested in contesting elections now. He also apologised to those who were unintentionally offended by him. "I am no longer interested in contesting elections etc. Critics will criticize but I don't like wasting my time and others where it doesn't suit my heart. I apologize for unintentionally offending some people," wrote Rane in the post.

Nilesh Rane was elected to 15th Lok Sabha of India from Ratnagiri Sindhudurg of Maharashtra as a member of Indian National Congress (INC).As part of the 15th Lok Sabha, Rane served on the Committee on Home Affairs and the Rules Committee.Rane contested from same constituency for a seat in 16th Lok Sabha but lost to Sena's candidate Vinayak Raut. As of 2019 he is a member of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP
