Ganeshotsav 2022: Mandatory to immerse Plaster of Paris idols in artificial ponds, says BMC

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has issued some instructions for this year's Ganeshotsav. It has been made mandatory to immerse Plaster of Paris idols in artificial ponds. Plaster of Paris statues will be banned from 2023.

For this year's Ganeshotsav, it has been made mandatory to immerse these idols in artificial ponds instead of immersing them in public places.

Although Plaster of Paris idols have been allowed this year, the municipal administration has decided to ban them completely in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation area from next year. It will be mandatory to buy and sell Ganesha idols made from environmentally friendly ingredients.
