Multiplex chain Inox Leisure Ltd on Saturday announced the relaunch of erstwhile Metro Cinema in Kolkata that was first designed by Scottish architect Thomas Lamb in 1935.

The vastly renowned structure, redeveloped by the Metro Realty Group in consultation with eminent heritage architect Subir Kumar Basu, comes with two screens and 422 seats.

The multiplex has a string of customer-friendly digital features like paperless ticketing and check-ins along with touch-screen enabled interactive food ordering. Guests also get to experience Inox's vibrant hospitality and gourmet offerings.

"It is a matter of pride and privilege that the iconic cinema is now rechristened as Metro Inox," said Alok Tandon, Chief Executive Officer of Inox Leisure.

"We are honoured to be a part of this restoration process and are committed to revive the glorious memories that the city of Kolkata has witnessed at Metro," he said.

The company now operates 12 multiplexes with 46 screens in Kolkata. Inox Leisure is among India's largest multiplex chains with 152 multiplexes and 643 screens in 69 cities.
