Maharashtra Flood: 17 people and 25 animals feared trapped after landslide in Khed taluka

Khed taluka of Ratnagiri district has been receiving continuous rains for the last eight days. As many as 17 people are feared to be trapped inside after the landslides that struck Maharashtra's Raigad district at Posare Boudhwadi near Dhamanandan on Friday. Khed taluka has been receiving heavy rains since last week.

Due to this torrential rain, land slide struct on the Buddhist temple at Posare. As many as 12 houses have been affected. Of these, 6 houses have completely collapsed. It is believed that 17 people were buried in it. In addition, 25 animals have been buried under the rubble. According to the information received, the incident took place around 10 pm on Thursday.

Jagbudi and Narangi rivers were flooded on Thursday due to ongoing rains in Khed taluka. This caused a huge influx of water into the riverside villages. Not only that, the Khed market was also flooded. The continuous rains have disrupted normal lives in the entire taluka. It is still raining in many places in Maharashtra. Four landslides have been reported in Raigad due to incessant rains, which have led to the roads being blocked.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts for several regions in the state that are set to receive heavy rainfall in the next three days.
