Mukesh Ambani bomb scare: Maharashtra govt hands over investigation to Anti-Terrorism Squad

The Maharashtra government on Friday handed over the investigation of bomb scare outside Mukesh Ambani’s residence Antilia last week to the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). The move by the state government was made after Mansukh Hiren's death, the owner of the Scorpio that was packed with gelatin sticks and parked near Mukesh Ambani's residence..

Maharashtra Leader of opposition Devendra Fadnavis on Friday in the Assembly said, I asked in House for protection to Mansukh Hiren, as he's the main link in the case & might be in danger. Now we get to know of his body being found. It makes the case fishy. Looking at this & alleged terror angle, we demand that case be handed over to NIA. However, home minister Anil Deshmukh said the police was competent to probe the case.

Mansukh Hiren died by suicide by jumping into Kalwa creek in Thane, Maharashtra, said Thane DCP.

The Scorpio car had been stolen from the eastern suburbs a few days ago, police said. The Police has registered accidental death report in the case.

In his statement to the Mumbai Police, Mansukh Hiren had claimed that his car had not been in use for over a year and that he recently drove the vehicle because he wanted to sell it. Hiren had said to police officials that his car broke down and he decided to park it on the Mulund-Airoli Link Road on February 16. When he returned to the spot the next day, the vehicle had been stolen.
