Pooja Chavan Suicide case: Sanjay Rathod likely to step down as minister if found guilty?

On potentially embarrassing situation developed for the ruling Shiv Sena after the death of TikTok star Pooja Chavan in Pune. The deceased Chavan (22) - hailed from Beed district and had just come to Pune to attend an English-speaking course. She was living along with two youth, said to be her brother and his friend. On February 8, she allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a building named Heaven Park in the Wanawadi area of the city, sparking off a controversy.

An MVA minister Sanjay Rathod's name has been allegedly linked to the girl. Ex-Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadavnis demanded that the death of Pooja Chavan should be investigated as the alleged phone conversation between Pooja and Sanjay Rathod became viral. She was 22 and pregnant with the illegitimate child of this Minister and hence committed suicide.

The issue has also heated up across the state as ten to twelve clips of him allegedly talking to Pooja have gone viral. It is being said that Rathod is likely to step down as minister.

Sources said that Rathod has sought time from CM Uddhav Thackeray to present his case. However, Thackeray has not given him time yet. Rathod and other leaders have been advised not to speak in the media on the issue.

This morning, Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta called Chief Minister at his Varsha residence and apprised him about the Pooja Chavan suicide case.The Chief Minister is serious in this matter and if Rathod is found guilty, he can take action against him.
