Religious places in Maharashtra to open soon

Hotels, food courts, restaurants & bars in the Maharashtra resumed dine-in services from Monday with 50% capacity after over six months of lockdown restrictions because of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Temples and other religious sites are also expected to open soon. In this context, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is holding discussions with various religious groups, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut told reporters on Monday.

If the government can reopen restaurants and bars then why can't religious places open, a reaction had erupted on social media. 

Restaurants and bars are allowed to open at 50 per cent capacity, but no such condition can be imposed on religious places. So it is likely that people might gather in crowd which would increase the chances of covid-19 spread. Keeping this in mind, Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had called the concerned authorities to review the Covid-19 situation and discuss about the measures to avoid congestion. 

Various states have already decided to open religious places. The BJP delegation had demanded the governor to open temples in Maharashtra. A delegation of temple priests met MNS president Rajya Thackeray and demanded to open temples in state.  Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi (VBA) leader Adv. Prakash Ambedkar had agitated to reopen temples.
