Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Friday reacted to the alleged illegal 'phone tapping' done by then Commissioner of Intelligence Rashmi Shukla. "I am surprised that Shukla was kept in office for six months by the Mahavikas Alliance government," he said.

Minister of State for Health Rajendra Patil-Yadravkar has admitted that he was pressured by senior police officer Rashmi Shukla to join the BJP while forming the government in the state after the Maharashtra Assembly election 2019. Shukla had put pressure, tweeted Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad. This has been confirmed by Yadravkar's confession."Housing Minister Awhad alleged that Rajendra Yadravkar was pressured by senior police officer Rashmi Shukla not to support the Mahavikas Aghadi, hired a policeman to keep an eye on him, and even tried to lure him," read the tweet posted by NCP's official account.

Four or five such officers from the police department had come to our notice. Raut questioned how he believed in them. Even Balasaheb had said that the government could not be run with the help of officials. Even during the coalition government, the then Chief Minister Manohar Joshi was asked by Balasaheb to send two officials on leave, Raut said. If these officers had been sidelined in time, the file that Devendra Fadnavis had taken to Delhi would not have happened, Raut said.

Sitaram Kunte gave a report yesterday. It has big revelations about phone tapping. The BJP will benefit, for political gain, these officials were tapping the phones of not only MLAs but also MPs and journalists. They wanted to know what the journalists knew. It is a very serious matter that Sharad Pawar's phone was tapped, said Sanjay Raut. The government should understand the seriousness of this matter, warned Raut.
