Senior BJP leader and former minister Eknath Khadse's entry into the NCP is almost certain and he will be accompanied by several of his supporters. As per reports, the decision to join the NCP was taken at a meeting held at Muktainagar. The meeting was held at Muktainagar on Monday. It was attended by Shiv Sena and BJP supporters in Dhule district.

The joining ceremony is expected to take place next week. Former MLA of Dhule Grameen Shiv Sena Pvt. Sharad Patil had resigned from Shiv Sena in the last assembly elections and campaigned for independent candidate Rajwardhan Kadambande.

After being denied a ticket in the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly polls and following the defeat of his daughter Rohini Khadse in the same election, Mr. Khadse has been vocal about his disenchantment with his party.

In the recent past, Khadse had targeted former chief minister and BJP MLA Devendra Fadnavis, accusing him for ruining his political career. Khadse, who was forced to resign as minister in connection to a land grab case, had accused Fadnavis of plotting against him, as he was a “strong contender to be the first OBC CM candidate” of BJP.
