Shocking! Maharashtra: Man arrested for killing family of four in Satara

In a shocking incident a 38-year-old was arrested for allegedly killing a family of four and dumping their bodies in a forested area in Maharashtra's Satara district, police said on Wednesday

The accused identified as Yogesh Nikam was arrested by Satar Police for allegedly killing brothers Tushar and Vishal Jadhav, both in their 20s, and their parents, assistant police inspector Anand Sinh Sabale of Medha police station said.

Nikam had allegedly promised the brothers jobs in a Mumbai-based security agency and had taken Rs 40,000 from them, the official said.

The accused called the duo to Satara on the pretext of taking them to Mumbai in the second week of July and killed them by injecting a poisonous substance, hitting them with an iron rod before dumping their bodies in a gorge in Jawali tehsil, he said.

The accused informed the duo's parents that they had joined work and were undergoing training, he said.

The parents got worried when they were unable to get in touch with their sons, after which they called Nikam who asked them to come to Satara and killed them in a similar manner last month, the official said.

The killings came to light, on August 29, when the police found decomposed bodies of a woman and a man in the ghat area in Jawali and probe revealed that the deceased were from Sangli district's Kupwad tehsil, where a missing complaint was lodged for them, he said.

On investigation, Nikam's name came to light and he confessed to the killings, he said, adding that a case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the IPC.
