Nagpur, May 18

In order to stop the economic exploitation of Covid patients by private hospitals, the State government had reserved 80 percent of the beds in private hospitals for Covid patients on government rates and had also given a rate list to private hospitals.

But the private hospitals are openly flouting the norms led down by State government and overcharging patients.

The leader of opposition in NMC Tanaji Wanve has written to NMC commissioner Radhakrishnan B that all the patients undergoing treatment on 80 percent and 20 per cent bed reserved beds in private hospitals, their bills above `2 lakhs should be audited.

Most of the private hospitals have charged over `2 lakh to patients. These bills should be audited by NMC auditors and justice should be given to the patients. On what basis they have been charged should be clarified and these bills should be made public. He also appealed to citizens to file a complaint with the opposition leader's office, about exaggerated or wrong bills charged by private hospitals.
