Ayush Directorate sends stipend proposal to govt

The Ayush Directorate has sent the proposal for a `10,000 hike in the stipend given to the resident doctors of Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital (GACH) and have requested the agitating doctors to resume work. But the doctors are agitating for other demands as well. All the 140 doctors are on strike for the 4th consecutive day.

The resident doctors are protesting under the Maharashtra Association of Ayurveda Resident Doctors (MARD). They have been posted in Mayo and GMCH in Covid wards and the doctors want leave as the 1st year and 3rd year doctors have exams, but they are not being relieved from Covid duties. The district collector has posted the doctors at these hospitals. They will have to perform the duty as it comes under the essential service, said the collector.

The agitation was restricted to Nagpur, but now other government ayurvedic colleges from Osmanabad, Mumbai and Nanded are also joining them. The problem of Ayush Directorate has intensified further, as these doctors were involved in Covid duties.
