DCP Vivek Masal gets economic branch

Zone-1 DCP Vivek Masal has been given the charge of economic crime branch. Vivek Masal was sharing this responsibility for one and half years, The commissioner of police Amitesh Kumar did the internal reshuffle as the new officers joined the duty on Monday.

Similarly, zone-3 DCP Rahul Maknikar and Shweta Khelkar of economic branch were relieved from their old charges. Nurul Hasan replaced Masal in zone while Lohit Matani replaced Maknikar in zone-3. Similarly Basavraj Teli, who came from Wardha, replaced Khelkar, who was sharing the additional responsibility of special branch.

Shweta Khelkar has been sharing the responsibility of special branch of the economic branch for long. The city is considered a second capital of economic crime. There are no effective measures to prevent them. The criminals involved in these cases are easily saved after earning lot of money. Last week, the commissioner of police reviewed the functioning of the economic branch. He has instructed the officers to improve the functioning. The commissioner of police has also reprimanded the officers in the much talked ‘dibba’ case pending for four years. Since then, the economic branch was expected to be given to an experienced officer. Vivek Masal is known as a cool and experienced officer. Nurul Hasan, posted in his place, is a 2015 batch IPS officer. He is originally a resident of Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh. He has completed probation in Beed. After this, he was ASP Nanded and additional superintendent in Yavatmal. He was transferred here from Yavatmal.

Similarly, 2014 batch IPS officer Lohit Matani has been posted in the district for the second time. He has done his BTech and MTech from Banaras Hindu University (BHU). He has also written books in the civil service. He is recognised as a studious officer. At the same time, Dr. Basavaraj Teli from Wardha is a 2010 batch IPS officer.
