Dhammachakra Pravartan Din celebrations simple: Committee

In view of the corona pandemic, the 64th Dhammachakra Pravartan Din will be a simple low key affair. All the public functions along with the main ceremony have been cancelled this year. Both the gates of Deekshabhoomi will remain close on October 14 and October 25. The secretary of the Dr Babasaheb Smarak Samiti Dr Sudhir Fulzele shared this information during a press conference in city on Tuesday.

On 14 October 1956 on the occasion of Ashok Vijaydashmi Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar accepted Dhamma Diksha from revered Mahasthavir Chandramani and adopted tenets ''Trisharan'' and ''Panchsheel''. To remember and celebrate this occasion this year on October 25 on the occasion of Ashok Vijaydashmi at 9 am on Deekshabhoomi Bhadant Nagarjun Arya Surai Sasai and the members of Smarak Samiti will worship Lord Buddha. Citizens have been appealed to perform worship at their respective homes at 9 am. Prior to the function, around 8.30 am, the statues of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Dr Gautam Buddha will be garlanded and worshiped. Around 9.30 am, Bhikshu Sangh will recite Lord Buddha prayers. Before that on 25 October at around 9 am Panchsheel flag will be hoisted. The Samata Sainik Dal will offer tributes during this occasion. The entire ceremony will be live on Deekshabhoomi Nagpur Youtube, Awaaz India TV and UCN Buddha, he added. President of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti, Bhadant Nagarjun Arya Surai Sasai, member Vilas Gajghate and N R Sute were also present for the press conference.

''No lighting on the Stupa this year''

To pay tributes to the Corona warriors like doctors, health workers, employees, police personnel, this year the Committee has decided not to lit the Stupa to show solidarity towards the family members of the deceased, informed Dr Fulzele.
