HC judges swearing in moment of pride for Nagpur

Nagpur, June 1

The swearing in ceremony of five High Court judges, Justice Avinash Gharote, Justice Anil Kilor, Justice Virendrasingh Bisht, Justice Mukulika Jawalkar and Justice Nitin Borkar, who had a closed connect with Nagpur, was a moment of great pride for the city and Vidarbha. The oath taking ceremony was broadcasted on YouTube and hence lot of people were able to witness the same.

A total of 10 additional judges, including the above five, have been retained for their outstanding work since their appointment. The notification was issued on May 27.

All of them were sworn in as permanent judges on Tuesday.

Due to the corona pandemic, the swearing-in ceremony was held online and Justice Bisht and Justice Borkar were present in Bombay High Court, Justice Kilor and Justice Gharote from Nagpur Bench, and Justice Jawalkar took the oath from Goa Bench.

They were administered the oath of office by Chief Justice of the High Court Dipankar Dutta, senior Justice of the Nagpur Bench Sunil Shukre and Senior Justice of the Goa Bench Suresh Gupte respectively.

Justice Gharote and Justice. Kilor’s were appointed as additional judges on August 23, 2019, and Justice Bisht, Justice Borkar and Justice Jawalkar were appointed as an additional judges on December 5, 2019. Justice Gharote and Justice Jawalkar both are from Nagpur, Justice Kilor is from Amravati, Justice Bisht from Jalna and Justice Borkar is a native of Gondia district.
