About 200 km pipeline out of 377 km has been laid in the city under AMRUT yojana in Nagpur city. Most of the work is done in Lakadganj zone. In this situation, 300 ferries of 35 tankers will end from the end of November. People will new tap connection. The project to make this zone tanker free will complete soon. This information was given by standing committee chairman Pintu Zalke.

Talking to scribes after the meeting, Zalke said the deadline of the Rs 272 crore project has been fixed March 31, 2021. As many as 43 water tanks will be constructed. the work of 12 water tanks have started. For the rest of tanks, the place is not available. The NMC will construct 16 water tanks out of remaining 21, he said.

He said that big residential apartment of Nagpur city takes only one connection. “Such consumer falls in the category of bulk consumer. It creates problem. The committee has gotten many complaints, In view of this NMC is planning the given them separate tap connection. This will help the citizens and the earning of the NMC will also increase.”, he said.

Separate underground tanks have to be built for each building of the apartment. It will be tested by the water department. Only after that each person in the apartment will be given separate tap connections, he said.

In the meeting held at NMC headquarters, the members of the committee Zulfekar Bhutto, superintendent engineer Shweta Banerjee, executive engineer Manoj Ganveer, OCW''s Sanjay Roy, KMP Singh, Rajesh Kalra etc. were present. In addition to AMRUT Yojana, 24 by 7 water supply scheme, water tax collection etc. were reviewed.

1 lakh consumers are getting benefits in 24 by 7

Zalke said that there are 3.30 lakh consumers in Nagpur city. Out of that, 1 lakh consumers have been absorbed in the 24 by 7 water supply scheme. Out of a total of 68 command areas, 22 areas have been converted into 24 by 7 water supply scheme. Under the plan, work has been completed to convert the entire 687 km pipeline by OCW while they are behind 50000 connections with the goal of providing new water connections.

Lagging water tax collection

The water supply department is slightly behind this year compared to the previous year in water tax collection. Till October 13 this year, a recovery of Rs 72.26 crore has been made, whereas in the corresponding period last year, a recovery of Rs 72.96 crore was made. Current bill is Rs 150 crore. while the outstanding bill is Rs 195 crore. On the issue of giving concessions in the bill, the NMC house will decide on the issue.
